WESTGATE CITY CENTER TO HOST
“AMERICAN IDOL” VIEWING PARTIES
Westgate Helps Support Glendale “Idol” Finalist Jordin Sparks
GLENDALE, AZ —
On Tuesday, March 20, 2007, the Westgate City Center in Glendale will host an “American Idol” viewing party on the WaterDance Plaza. From 5 pm to 10 pm, “Idol” fans are encouraged to come to Westgate to show support for Glendale resident and finalist Jordin Sparks as she competes for the coveted title of “American Idol.”
Additionally, each Tuesday that Sparks is still in contention for “American Idol,” Westgate will host a similar viewing party to watch the local 17-year-old singer compete. “American Idol” features the finalists singing on Tuesday evenings, followed by a two hour voting period and a Wednesday evening live show where the contestant receiving the fewest votes is eliminated from competition.
The viewing parties will feature a big-screen TV showing the evening’s “American Idol” episode, other live entertainment from past “Arizona Idol” winners (a local “Idol” contest held annually and sponsored by Sanderson Ford, who will also sponsor the “Arizona Idol Sanderson Ford Stage” at these events), food and beverages, and a phone bank sponsored by Qwest, where Jordin’s fans can vote immediately after the show concludes. Additional contests will take place and prizes will be given out to those in attendance. The local affiliate of FOX network, KSAZ Channel 10, will be on hand to broadcast live from the event for their local evening newscasts.
Past “American Idol” winners include Grammy Award Winners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, and finalists from past seasons include best selling artists Chris Daughtry and Clay Aiken.
