WESTGATE CITY CENTER TO BE HOME TO LARGEST “MEDIA & SIGNAGE
DISTRICT” WEST OF TIMES SQUARE
Ellman, Clear Channel Form Partnership for Media Signage and Sponsorship
GLENDALE, AZ —Steve Ellman, Chairman and CEO of The Ellman Companies
and developer of the Westgate City Center in Glendale, Arizona, and Michael Forte,
President and CEO of Clear Channel Spectacolor, a division of Clear Channel Outdoor
announce a partnership to develop, market, and manage the “spectacular” media
and signage at Westgate.
The affiliation will result in the development of integrated media partnerships
with corporate marketers for the unique advertising opportunities available in
the entertainment, shopping, and dining core of Westgate City Center.
In Phase I of Westgate, there are over 30 media signs being developed, with sizes
up to 100’ in height. Many of the signs will be animated or electronic
billboards, creating a new level of excitement along with unprecedented branding
opportunities for advertisers within the project. These eight-story tall signs,
along with all ten buildings in Phase I, are currently under construction and
expected to be completed in the Fall of 2006.
“
The Westgate City Center is unlike any other project anywhere in North America,” said
Ellman. “The design and location of these spectacular signs will create
a ‘sense of place,’ an environment that will be unrivaled and truly
one-of-a-kind. In addition, with the ability for corporations to integrate their
products and services into the community itself, we are moving into a new world
of truly integrated marketing.”
When completed, the Westgate spectacular signage will represent the largest collective
grouping of media structures outside of Times Square in New York City, Clear
Channel Spectacolor’s signature trade area. At present, Clear Channel manages
more than 55% of the billboards and signage opportunities in Times Square.
“
Our role is to add to the excitement and energy of Westgate City Center while
allowing us to embed clients into a truly unique marketing environment in a burgeoning
marketplace, “said Michael Forte, President and CEO of Clear Channel Spectacolor. “Combining
the extraordinary signage opportunities with the ability to allow brands to achieve
an unprecedented level of integration will mark the first project of its kind
in the United States. Our Branded Cities business unit will be responsible for
the sales and development for the integrated opportunities.”
