WESTGATE PLANS SERIES OF EVENTS FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE, BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK

City Center to Host Largest West Valley New Year’s Celebration Week-Long Festivities to Celebrate Fiesta Bowl and BCS Championship Game

GLENDALE, AZ

The Valley’s biggest parties come to Glendale in the New Year, as Westgate City Center will play host to the West Valley’s largest New Year’s Eve celebration and a week of festivities to celebrate the Tostito’s Fiesta Bowl and College Football BCS National Championship Game, to be played next door at the University of Phoenix Stadium.

WESTGATE ROCKS NEW YEAR’S EVE
Kicking off the week on December 31st, “Westgate Rocks New Year’s Eve” will feature a party on the Westgate WaterDance Plaza, where partygoers can rock out to live music headlined by Southwest legends Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers and see a world-class fireworks display at midnight.  Presented in partnership with the Arizona Lottery, lucky attendees purchasing lottery tickets can walk away with fabulous prizes, as the Lottery will give away over $250,000 during the event.

“Westgate Rocks New Year’s Eve” runs from 5 pm to 2 am, and ticket prices are $20 (general admission), $30 (general admission plus access to Finlandia VIP Club, located on the 2nd level overlooking the WaterDance Plaza), or $110 (all access pass with buffet dinner and complimentary beer, wine, and soft drinks).

Expected to draw thousands and designed as a West Valley alternative to rival block parties in Scottsdale and Tempe, “Westgate Rocks New Year’s Eve” will be the first mega-event to be held at the new Westgate City Center.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL’S CHAMPIONSHIP PARTY WEEK AT WESTGATE
Four additional parties will take place that week, beginning on January 1st (11 am to 1 am) prior to and following the Tostito’s Fiesta Bowl at 6 pm, January 6th and 7th (5 pm to 1 am), and on January 8th (11 am to 1 am), leading up to and following the 6 pm kickoff for the BCS National Championship Game at the University of Phoenix Stadium (both the Tostito’s Fiesta Bowl and the BCS National Championship Game will be telecast throughout Westgate on the 40’ Jumbotron and at various other locations around Westgate).

JANUARY 1ST
On New Year’s Day, football fans can join Westgate in launching “College Football’s Championship Party Week at Westgate,” leading up to the Tostito’s Fiesta Bowl at 6 pm.  Out-of-towners in for the game or locals hoping to be close to the action will want to take part in the festivities, as once again, Westgate will be transformed into one of Arizona’s largest party venues.  Cheerleaders, marching bands, and other football related promotions will line the streets of Westgate, live music will again be featured in the Plaza, and the game will be shown on a 40’ Jumbotron and at various other locations throughout Westgate.  This event will run from 11 am to 1 am, and fans are encouraged to re-enter the event after the game concludes.  Ticket prices are $20 (general admission), $30 (general admission plus access to Finlandia VIP Club), or $110 (all access pass with buffet dinner and complimentary beer, wine, and soft drinks).

JANUARY 6TH
The tone for the weekend of football-themed parties will kick off on the evening of January 6th, as the festivities will feature live bands, contests and other activities, as visitors from the teams’ home states of Ohio and Florida are expected to attend.  The January 6th event runs from 5 pm to 1 am, and ticket prices are $10 (general admission), $20 (general admission plus access to Finlandia VIP Club), or $100 (all access pass with buffet dinner and complimentary beer, wine, and soft drinks).

JANUARY 7TH
On January 7th, Westgate hosts the Budweiser Select “One Night Stand” party, featuring national recording artists Shinedown and Trapt, and an opening set by local rock band MetalHead.  The event will feature a college themed party atmosphere with live bands, promotions, and a chance for boosters for each school to come together and support their teams bid for the National Championship.  The January 7th event runs from 5 pm to 1 am, and ticket prices are $20 (general admission), $30 (general admission plus access to Finlandia VIP Club), or $100 (all access pass with buffet dinner and complimentary beer, wine, and soft drinks).

JANUARY 8TH
The week-long party at Westgate culminates with the BCS National Championship Game, and the party keeps going!  Columbus, Ohio based cover band Shucking Bubba will play two sets, along with other live acts, and plenty of Ohio State and University of Florida related contests and promotions.  Cheerleaders and marching bands from both teams’ schools will appear as the partying continues from 11 am to 1 am; those with tickets to the game are encouraged to re-enter following the conclusion of the game, and those without tickets can watch the action on the 40’ Jumbotron screen on the Plaza and at other locations throughout Westgate.  Ticket prices are $20 (general admission), $30 (general admission plus access to Finlandia VIP Club), or $125 (all access pass with buffet dinner and complimentary beer, wine, and soft drinks).
